Barnegat Lighthouse and beach

Last weekend we enjoyed a trip to the Barnegat Lighthouse and beach. My main reason was to see the birds of course we did which is my Camera Critters post and the Lighthouse and beach is the scenic post for my Scenic Sunday

The beach is just lovely for a walk even in the winter.

The jetty along the pretty Barnegat beach is a perfect place to see the ducks in the winter months.

Hubby and I counted 30-40  Harlequin ducks along the jetty.

These are Brants and there were many of them along the jetty.

Brant, Common Eider (lifer) and a Harlequin

There were numerous Ruddy Turnstones and Purple Sandpipers along the jetty.

  3. I was wondering if you were going to show us Barnaget Lighthouse. It has been many, many years since I've seen that particular lighthouse. I hope to return to the Jersey Shore for a visit, perhaps this year. If I make it over there, one of my stops will be at Barnaget.

  29. The lighthouse scene looks untouched by humanity. Very tranquil looking. No wonder the birds are flocking there! I wonder if it's getting any snow this weekend or if it's too far south...enjoy the week.

  47. Barnaget Lighthouse, one of my favorite places on earth cuz it is "down the Jersey shore". I loved seeing the pictures, made me miss home! (but in a really good way). The bird photos are spectacular. And it really is suppose to be one of the best places for bird watching! Thanks for sharing this with everyone! Being far from my original stomping grounds of NJ, this post was doubly enjoyable for me. hugs, Debby
