A few yardbirds

For this weeks Camera Critters I have a few of my yardbirds. Some are just passing thru and some are here nesting.

The bluebirds are one of my favorite yardbirds and probably the first bird that got me interested in birding. Sometimes I can see them year round and sometimes they leave and come back to build their nest.

The Ruby Throated hummingbird look pretty funky.

The Indigo Bunting is one of my summer birds. Summer birds are breeders here in Maryland and have a nest nearby.

The American Goldfinches are here year round but the males turn a duller color in the winter. They look beautiful in the summer.

The female Rose Brested Grosbeak was just passing thru to her nesting habitat. She decided she needed a quick fix of bird seed to keep her going.

I hope you enjoyed my yardbirds and to see more wonderful critters please visit
Misty Dawn's Camera Critters.  Thanks to Misty for hosting and thank you for stopping by to see my post.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

  1. How lucky you are to have such colourful yard birds. I love the bluebird with his nest material. They are so clever how they construct nests.

  2. Eileen-Aren't those Indigo Buntings wonderful?! I was thrilled this spring when I finally got one to come to the feeders. We've lived in this house 4 years now and it's the first time we've seen one here.

  6. You are so lucky to see all of those birds. Although I have a feeder out, I have not seen 1 hummingbird yet this year. My lack of Goldfinches is also a little alarming.

  15. Our usual backyard birds have been quiet for the past couple of weeks. Maybe they are nesting, or maybe it's the fact that I've been seeing more birds of prey!

  16. Mr. Goldfinch is looking good in his summer colors, I notice just a few days ago the bright yellows of the males here. I love the Indigo Bunting, I have never seen one before.

  20. Although I have lots of birds in the yard, they are definitely not as colorful nor interesting looking as yours. How fortunate of you. Who needs garden ornaments which such colors around already?

  25. Amazing to me that you have these beautiful birds in your yard. Especially the ndigo bunting which I have only seen those two years in Port Aransas -- those same ones that later flew up to your yard I'm sure ;>)) Beautiful pictures.

Just dropped in on your flower blog (I can't comment there) -- your latest post on garden flowers is beautiful but I was mesmerized by the beautiful header and then so glad to see the post below on iris! None here in Florida -- I hope to see some as we travel North/West (hope it isn't too late).
